This swim camp is all about going the distance. Pushing yourself to swim a little further while enjoying the stunning surroundings of the Jurassic Coast. This part of the UK is perfect for training for those longer distance swims, as we have coastline facing in different directions, so we can always swim somewhere. It is not a boot camp, our ethos as always is to have fun while doing something you love.

Come and join us midday on Friday, have some lunch and set up your tent (or hire a fully furnished Bell Tent) meet the crew and then we'll head off for our first 3km swim. There will be experienced open water coaches on hand to give you some tips and advice for you to work on throughout the weekend. Back to camp for well deserved evening meal and hot tub if you fancy.

Saturday we will travel to the first swim location where we will aim to do a 3-5km swim in the morning, have lunch at a pub or café and finish the day with another 3k swim.

Sunday, the big one! We will aim to do a 5-7km swim followed by a relaxing beach sauna to help restore those muscles.

A relaxing final evening at base camp where you can ask any questions and consolidate what you have learnt over the weekend. If you need to travel home for work on Monday, we will aim to be finished by 5pm or you are most welcome to stay overnight with us before heading home on the Monday.

We will have ice baths set up at the camp for anyone interested in exploring cold water immersion and functional breathing, with a qualified instructor. We will also have chats about nutrition & hydration, strength & flexibility training, and other practical aspects of a long distance swim including training plans.

Although we are focused on training for distance swims, as always its all about the location and enjoying the stunning surroundings you will find yourself in. They are not race based swims, faster swimmers will be asked to double back in a loop to slower swimmers, thereby swimming further and keeping their own pace.

So if you are wanting to swim the Ultra 33.3 #5Montenegro, Lake Windemere, the English Channel, Dart 10k or simply want to spend 3 days swimming this fantastic area, come and join us.

Minimum speed of 2km/hour sea swimming,  or 3mins/100m and a proven swim of 3k within 3 months of the event.

Cost £325 to include campsite, swims, cake, rib ride, evening meals, swim coaching and the all important expertise of the Jurassic Coast Swimming Safety Crew

6th-8th September 2024

Think fun camp rather than boot camp and if camping isn't your style, why not upgrade to a fully furnished bell tent?

2 nights basic camping near Winfrith Newburgh, Dorset, the perfect location for us to explore the stunning Jurassic Coastline by land and sea.

Arrive Friday night, set up your pitch and then join us for a communal evening meal, where you will meet your fellow swimmers, coaches and safety crew. Watch the sun go down (hopefully!) listen out for the owls and nightjars and get a good nights kip ready to swim the following day.

Saturday morning we will head to the sea for an hour or so of coaching before setting off on our first swim adventure. We will stop for lunch on one of the beaches or at a café before doing a second swim in the afternoon. Swims will be tailored to the overall group but as a guide we will swim 1-2k each time and we will often walk along the coast path to reach the swim start. There will be plenty of stops for hot chocolate and cake! Back to the campsite for the evening to warm up in the hot tub before heading to the nearby pub for supper or fish and chips if the weather is fine.

On Sunday we will be looking to do a single longer swim of around 3k, but there will be a shorter option for those that want it. The swim will be in a different location to the previous day.

Swim locations will be dependant on weather and we will chose the safest and most scenic locations that we can. You will be in and out of the water, swimming, walking and generally enjoying this fantastic stretch of coastline and all it has to offer. From Old Harry's to Durdle Door, Dancing ledge to Newtons cove, it will not disappoint you.

Cost £245 to include campsite, swims, cake, rib ride, evening meals, swim coaching and the all important expertise of the Jurassic Coast Swimming Safety Crew

Bunkhouse, 28th June-1st July 2024

Camping, 26th-28th July 2024

A true swim retreat on an island with no cars and no public access after 5pm. A choice of weekends where you can either camp or stay in the Bunk House. Both are right by the sea so you can wake to the sound of the waves on the shore.

Come and enjoy this completely unique setting on the edge of the Jurassic Coast. We will have plenty of time to explore the Island, There are red squirrels, sika deer & peacocks during the day and you can listen out for nightjars, owls and watch the bats at night.

There will be sunrise and sunset swims with the Bunkhouse itinerary designed to go at a more relaxed pace to the campsite adventure.

Breakfast will be porridge, lunch we will stop close to a café (not provided) and supper will be a hearty stew with rice, pasta dish or vegetable curry (food intolerances will be catered for, but not severe allergies and we use a communal kitchen area) As with all our swims cake and hot chocolate will be provided at regular intervals during the day to keep your strength up!

Bunkhouse Retreat

The bunkhouse on the beach at Brownsea Island. As you may know the island is only accessible by boat, so this is a real getaway. There are 4 dorms of 2 bunkbeds in each,  room for 12 people in total. Facilities are basic but comfortable. You will need to bring a sleeping bag and all your kit in a rucksack via the ferry. Your kit will be transported to the house once on the island. If you would like any further details please do email me and I can send you a link to the accommodation.
As with all Jurassic Coast Swimming events we will pack as much swimming in as possible, interspersed with lots of cake! We will provide breakfast and supper each day you are there, and lunch will be a café stop wherever we are swimming that day.
We will be making the most of swimming in these wonderful clear waters, choosing the safest and most fun locations depending on the weather. If the weather hinders us, we will get a boat to the mainland and swim over there. The waters are quite fast and very tidal so some fun swooshes will be guaranteed along with a sunset swim on one of the evenings.
The cost includes 3 nights accommodation, all swims, safety crew & swim guides, swim hats, food except lunch, alcohol and any extra snacks you may need.  The ferry cost is not included but entrance onto the island is.

Ruckraft/campsite adventure

We will aim to swim around the Island and if weather/conditions allow we will swim across to Studland. There will be plenty of walking, a rib ride or 2 and a beachfront sauna included. We will do up to 5k walking and up to 6k swimming on day 1, broken down into 2 or 3 swims and there will be a choice of a 3 or 5k swim on day 2 with around 2-3k of walking. You will have the option of using your own ruckraft (hire/buy/bring your own) to transport your kit as you swim, so you will also need a 30-40L rucksack. If you'd like to know more about the ruckraft follow the link https://www.abovebelow.sc/ruckraft
There is a maximum of 10 swimmers to keep our impact low on the island.
You MUST be an experienced open water swimmer and able to swim 3k in around 90mins or less. That's 2:30/100m. This is because we will need to cross some strong (and fun) tidal streams so a bit of power will be needed. (Fins can be used too!)
Breakfast and supper is included as is the campsite for 2 nights, with an option to stay Sunday night (small extra fee)
You will need to bring all of your own camping gear including tent, sleeping bag, crockery and cutlery. Stoves and cooking utensils are provided. There are lovely hot showers on the site along with the usual amenities. You will need to catch a ferry over to the Island carrying all your kit, but once on the Island your luggage can be transported to the campsite as it's about a 30 minute walk. Alternatively we may swim over to the Island and have a RIB to transport your tents, if the weather plays ball.
This is a completely unique experience, so please do come and join us for this fantastic Ruckraft Adventure on Brownsea Island.

Extra information There will be a maximum of 15 swimmers per camp. Swim hats and Fourth Element Ponchos will be provided. Further information will be sent to you prior to the swim, but please ask if there's anything else you would like to know. 16+ age limit is recommended on this swim, family swims are also available, please ask if you are interested.

Weather Caveat Due to the great British weather we may not always be able to offer all the swims advertised, but we will always endeavour to swim safely somewhere. If there is a named storm due to hit over the weekend of the swim, we may well have to cancel due to safety on and off the sea. We wil try to re schedule the event or offer you a refund, minus the £25 admin fee. Please see terms and conditions for more detailed information regarding our cancellation policies.
